Dead Ice
Anita Blake has the highest kill count of any vampire executioner in the country. She’s a U.S. Marshal who can raise zombies with the best of them. But ever since she and master vampire Jean-Claude went public with their engagement, all she is to anyone and everyone is Jean-Claude’s fiancée.
It’s wreaking havoc with her reputation as a hard ass—to some extent. Luckily, in professional circles, she’s still the go-to expert for zombie issues. And right now, the FBI is having one hell of a zombie issue.
Someone is producing zombie porn. Anita has seen her share of freaky undead fetishes, so this shouldn’t bother her. But the women being victimized aren’t just mindless, rotting corpses. Their souls are trapped behind their eyes, signaling voodoo of the blackest kind.
It’s the sort of case that can leave a mark on a person. And Anita’s own soul may not survive unscathed…
I loved this book Laurel did such a great job.
Dead ice. As a long time Anita Blake fan I was so disappointed in this book. Once again a writer has hit her end. No storyline just boring reviews of previous storylines. Sorry I spent the time on this book. I guess I will re-read the previous books I enjoyed. Good bye Anita
I too was very disappointed with Dead Ice. I miss the badass Anita who didn’t put up with crap and the books were filled with action. Now, all we get is arguing about who will she screw next or who will be apart of her huge sex group.
I really thought she was going somewhere with the weres not healing as fast as the they should, but nothing. The part about the attempted assassination of Raphael was also dropped. This book could have had way more action, but page after page was spent on petty dialogue with the extras in Anita’s life. It would be nice if she would dwindle the extras down and there was far less of the sex and more of the fighting.
Well, at least the first 10 books were good. Guess I too will have to reread those for the good old Anita Blake.
I loved this book best for suspenseful surprise so far.
If affliction is book #22 and dead ice is book#24 where is book#23?
‘Jason’ Is book 23 as far as I can tell (and it was nice to finally hear from him again, he’d seemed to disappear for a while the)
I have to agree with Connie and Amy, because after the first 10 books I think the Anita series were over, and Im really sead, because this is my favourite, I’ve read them a thousand times and I love the characters, the stories and mostly Anita’s style (I’m reading the book in Hungarian translation and English).
After the Narcissus in chains the more sex Anita had the more heart and conscience complications she had (and sooo many orgasms with everybody in the planet), it’s so boring and annoying. I have noticed that every second book is about sex and then it comes an “action book” like in the old times. Beside the sex parts the last books are just the previews (why? everybody who reads the 20. book is familiar with everything before), with lame action intermezzos. Anita was great because of the humor and the actions, not because of the nudity. Please, if you would try to write the book as the first ones! It would be so great! I think a lot of the fans would be happy. But if you have no more ideas just the kamasutra, maybe the Anita series should be over.
Thank you, I wanted to tell this for years!
I absolutely loved Dead Ice! I have to ask (though I’m sure she’s tired of hearing it in various forms): Will someone PLEASE put together a sit-down between the inestimable LK Hamilton and amazing Mr Joss Whedon?! The Anita Blake series deserves to be on film… (Personally, I”d get Kat Dennings to sit in on that meeting, too… If she can only stop smiling when she’s being sarcastic, she’d be an amazing Anita Blake!)
Have any of the Anita Blake series been done in audio book?
Yes, all of the Anita Blake series has been done in audio format.
Are there any updates when books 10-16 will become available again?
I agree with some of the others, but I don’t want the Anita series to be over. Couldn’t you please just go back to more fighting and less sex. I am just finishing reading the whole series the second time and was hoping to be able to order a new book, but I see I have to wait until June. Could you please just take this into consideration when you write your next one. And, I don’t think you need to tell us everytime who everyone is. If people don’t know they will look for your older books and start from the beginning. That’s what happened to me. When I read my first one, I had to read more, so I just looked it up and bought the whole series.
What happened to Rafael? This is the first time I ever remember there being such a gaping plot hole. The last mention was after calling flesh didn’t work. The prologue tied up every other story line in the book, but there wasn’t even a mention of the rat king. How can you put so much of it into the book and just leave it open like that? I am an avid Anita Blake fan, but there was so much going on in this book it was like she couldn’t decide on a story line and took a bunch of short stories and mashed them together. I hope the next book comes out soon to answer what happened to Rafael, but if it is as chaotic as this one, it may be my last.
Has someone answered the plot gap regarding Rafael, I feel like I read it somewhere about the confrontation between Rafael and the doctor who was working with another in the rat pack to assassinate Rafael and how the healing issue was fixed.
Maybe I just couldn’t cope with the missing part and dreamed it 🙂
I’m from Czech Republic. For us it is just 17 parts Anita Blake series. Waiting for the other parts. I read the second time yet.
Thank you very much
I’m a little confused on Magda’s origins. It seems likes she’s a Harlequin Animal to Call, but she’s completely sans vampire?
I’m just starting on this book. I’m just hoping it’s not just porn like Jason was.
I ve been a fan ever since I got my first three in one books of the Anita Blake series. I then got your fairy series Merry Gentry. I ve learn so much about weaponry from your books, that at times has beneficial to me in my travels. Thank you for not only entertaining me but also teaching. It is with a heavy heart that my books and posters were lost and some stolen. I miss rereading my books and didn’t get to read the last one I brought before going overseas. Anyway I just wanted to say keep up the good work and thank you for the additional information and details you inclined in your books. Much Love and many Blessings Always. P.s love the boots
I realize more people are into the vampires, but I’m not. I would like to know when are you coming out with more of Merry Gentry? Soon I hope, please.
