A Decadent Day

Feb 01, 2009

Saturday was a decadent day.  What does that mean to me?  Slept in a little, nowhere we had to go, no appointments we had to make, just a Saturday off.  I got up early, let the dogs into the snowy yard, and blogged, answered e-mail.  I puttered, which I don’t usually do.  Then I went up to wake Jon, as he had requested.  He doesn’t like to sleep in too much once I’m out of the bed.  I have to say that waking him up on a kid-free weekend is one of my favorite things.  Sleeping Beauty woken with a kiss, among other things.  An hour and a half later he was in the shower, and I finished getting dressed for the day.  We only had one errand to run, to get to Jenny Craig before the center closed and stock up on food.  Jon was very pleased on his weigh-in.  He’s lost almost thirty-five pounds.  I’ve lost about fifteen.  But it’s not about the weight, that’s just a guide, I’ve lost more inches than pounds, and fitting back into sizes eight and six, means more to me than any number on the scale.  We grabbed lunch and came home, because Jon wanted to stay home during the day, because he knew we had plans to go out in the evening.  Remember the blog about the Feast of the Three Kings?  Well, we were going to be visiting the friends that we celebrated that holiday with; Carri was going to grill meat, and Pili to do the rest of the meal.  Pili can cook anything and make it taste good.  Lot’s of people can cook, but not everyone can cook things that make you go, hmm, and it’s still yummy.

Jon took the dogs and went to play Warcraft in his office.  I went upstairs and had a nice, long, hot, bath.  I finally got some bath/bubble salts that work with the jets in the jacuzzi tub, and won’t gum up the works.

Why do I call this day decadent?  Because I did nothing.  Any day that I do nothing much always feels vaguely sinful to me.  Workaholic and a control freak; free time can be anxiety-filled, but I’m getting better.
