Serpentine

Vampire hunter Anita Blake has managed to overcome anything that faces her. But this time, there’s a monster that even she doesn’t know how to fight . . .

A remote Florida Island is a perfect wedding destination for fellow US marshal and best friend Edward’s upcoming nuptials. For Anita, the vacation is a much welcomed break as it’s the first trip she gets to take with just wereleopards Micah and Nathaniel. But it’s not all fun and games and bachelor parties…

In that tropical paradise, Micah has discovered a horrific new form of lycanthropy, one that has afflicted a single family for generations. Believed to be the result of an ancient Greek curse, it turns human bodies into a mass of snakes.

When long-simmering resentment leads to a big blow-out within the wedding party, the last thing Anita needs is more drama. But it finds her anyway when women start disappearing from the hotel and worse–her own friends and lovers are considered the prime suspects. There’s a strange power afoot that Anita has never confronted before, a force that’s rendering those around her helpless in its thrall. Unable to face it on her own, Anita is willing to accept help from even the deadliest places—help that she will most certainly regret—if she survives at all, that is…

    1. It is available in Chapters/Indigo book store in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I bought one 3/16/19 for my daughter’s birthday. Phone (780) 487-6500. They do on-line sales.

      1. When is the next Anita Blake book coming out? Just wondering I have the whole series and can’t wait till the next one.

        1. I’ve been reading this series since Guilty Pleasures came out. I feel like Anita has grown up with me. I Love these books

  1. Will you be selling signed copies like you have done previously?
I would like to buy one
    Thank you

  2. Am looking forward to reading your next book. I bought The Harlequinn not knowing it was a series….boy, I was hooked and bought all of them. You are a most intriguing author.

    1. Me as well! I received the book on audio (I’m blind so got it on tape). I love the Anita Blake series! I was hooked within the first few paragraphs.

  3. I was wondering if there was an estimated release date for this book yet? I’m excited to tag this new Anita Blake book!

  4. I love all your books. And buy tnem!!!! Question when you doing the me chapter in Mercy Gentry life since we know who the babies daddy,or do we.???

  5. Yes Boo, we need to have a conversation about our ‘Gurl’ Merry Gentry.
We need to get on past that Shiver of Light. There are questions that need to be answered, sex to be had, the teaching of the young, political madness and intrigue to stress out about. Is there a timeline for the next installment of ‘Merry Madness’.

    In plain English.

    Hello,
When is the next book due for the Merry Gentry Series?

  6. I’ve been doing nothing but reading these books for the last month & to get 25.??? In and there just be no more!!! ? With all do respect WRITE FASTER!!

    1. Lol a whole month! We have been reading her books for 20+ years! You can’t rush perfection…and it’s always worth the wait! ?

    2. If you read any of Laurell’s blogs or posts she explains her creative process…not as simple/easy as ‘WRITE FASTER’…She wants to do justice to the Characters, to her faithful readers & to herself. We Fans just have to be patient…

  7. I finally can finish Crimson Death! I always start the books the second they come out but have to stop and re-read the old ones. Waiting without any relief in sight is nearly painful. I have to prolong the anticipation! I cannot place my finger on why I feel so intensely bonded to the characters. Just. Something. I am scared of happily ever after when there is so much growth that can still can occur. Maybe it is the possibility?!? Probably should get another hobby. . .but, why? Please do not stop writing this series!!

  8. I just love this series… Well all of the series in truth lol. I started a tradition back when like book 3 came out… When a new book is released I “scarf” it down in like 1-2 days. After that I go back to book 1 & read them all again, ending with the newly released one again.

Sometimes I’ve read the full series even when a new one hasn’t been released. I find it funny how I react sometimes to things… Like in the first few books how Anita is with Jean Claude, I chuckle & think “Just wait… You don’t like him now, you deny him… Just wait” lol. I swear I find myself even talking out loud, as if Anita or other characters could hear me lol.

  9. I love your books, they are absolutely wonderful, but i must say I am in agreement with all those who are missing Merry, I miss her too….When will we see more of Merry? I cant wait for my local library to get Serpentine so I can read it and I cant wait for another Merry Gentry book to come out…

  10. Does anyone know why there’s a gap in the audiobooks? I am unable to find Anita books 10 through 16. I don’t want to jump to 17 but I’m also missing the entertainment! Thank you for any information

  11. Oh my gosh!!! I know I’m late to pick up the latest book and I’m only on page 52 ( I try to read slowly to savor the experience!) But I am dealing with laughter. “…I don’t need to play fuck fuck games with the IRS.” -Millie LMFAO how will I ever pace myself to make this last the longest possible? ?

  12. I absolutely love, love the Anita Blake series!
I have lost track of how many times i have read the whole series.
Is there anyway of finding out when Serpentine will be released in paperback? The hard covers are too heavy for me to hold.

  13. I just finished the book last night. Loved it! Makes me want to restart the series for the bazillionth time! I love reading from start to current of how much Anita has changed! <3

  14. On Average, how soon after Hardcover Release is Paperback Released?

P.S. Love Both Anita & Mary Series, Have all books that are available in/on Paperback.

  15. Reading majority (up to Affliction) of Anita Blake series for 3rd time. Just bought Serpentine and can’t wait to read it. Laurell Hamilton is one of my top three favorite authors of all time.

The only thing that’s EVER disappointed me is one of the paperback books in the series used a lesser font and another when one paperback used double spacing and bars at top & bottom of each page – annoying. But NOTHING about the writing has ever done anything but draw me in and helped me to escape to the world of Anita Blake.

Keep up the great work Laurell Hamilton.

    1. Please tell me there will be another book soon!! For me, there is nothing better than LKH and her Anita Blake series.

  16. OMG….SHE’S BACK…..The Laurell K. Hamilton I love is back!!! I’m from St Louis so I’ve always had a strong connection to this series. I’m an avid reader and usually would start at the beginning of the Anita Blake series and read EVERY BOOK before allowing myself to read the NEW book. Then they were more Erotic then suspenseful and I stopped. Serpentine was AWESOME. I was on the edge of my seat through the entire book. Who needs sleep, right! Just enough sex thrown in to keep it interesting. But MAN, the story line was wonderful with all our favorites in there The Four Horsemen were back with a vengeance! I hope they keep coming like this. I have to go back and read the entire series again. Thank You Laurell. You are blessed with a wonderful imagination and we as your readers get to enjoy your gift.

  17. I am looking this book for my husband but he only wants it on paper back.can anyone tell me if it is our on paper back?

      1. I keep hoping that Micah disappears from this series but nope here he is again! Nathaniel is quite enough as a house husband. Micah was supposed to be her help for the leopards but since they’ve pretty much gone away then he should too!
Having said all that, I’m going to buy this book because Anita Blake was my entry into the paranormal and I’m not willing to give up on this series yet. I’ve heard great things about Serpentine but frankly I’m only looking forward to Anita & Edward.

    1. According to Penguin/Random House publishing website, it will be available in paperback on Aug 6,2019. Hope this helps.

  18. I read the whole anita blake series in 3 months. I am so looking forward to a next book with the wedding of the century with Jean claude and anita.
I then read the merry gentry series. It was good but Anita blake is way better.
Hoping there is a next in anita blake series.

  19. Walked into a book shop in Rochester (England) a few months ago and bought books one to seven of Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series. nearly finished book seven and have bought books eight to fourteen. Totally hooked !
Looking forward to reading the whole series soon.

  20. read Serpentine and can’t help but wonder why all the heros around Peter couldn’t put a tourniquet on his leg

  21. I don’t think I’ve read this one. Please advise when it will be available in paperback. Ty

  22. I am listing the series on audio book. And i am on serpentine. I couple of things a noticed Some of the charters change accents like Micha, Daniel. Jon Claude etc. Micha had a Scottish accent just resently . I realize there voices will change with age but not accents.also I realize people may need counseling from time to time but vampire’s and other super naturals a on regular bases ?
