I just love this new book. It was not only suspenseful, but it gave me a new look/view of angels. It kept my interest and I read it in 2 sittings. I dont want to give away more because I hate spoilers and its been a few months since I read it. But I am already wanting to read it again to see what I may have missed the first time read because I read it so fast.
Laurell I sincerely hope this is going to be a long lasting series like Anita Blake is.

Really enjoyed this book. Can’t wait for the next book.

A refreshing new world and protagonist (a male!) from America’s Queen of Urban Fantasy— Laurel K. Hamilton. Given the scope and breadth of supernatural creatures and paranormal powers covered between her two existing series, and the obvious potential for a woman like Anita Blake to overshadow any other characters—simply through sheer force of personality—her new protagonist, Zaniel “Havoc” Havelock, holds up really well. From the hints and peeks we’re given in the series opener, the journey of this detective with a traumatic past will be well-worth following.
It is also refreshing to be starting anew with a character that doesn’t come with an entire polycule of backstory that requires pages and pages (and pages) of drama for every interaction. (Sigh.) Perhaps as a result, the pace of this new book feels much more even as well. Though at times—such as when Havoc has to flirt with seemingly everybody in a coffee shop for no real reason—Ms. Hamilton still almost reflexively turns every scene into sexual politics. (Sigh.) (To paraphrase Freud — it’d be refreshing if for once a cigar was just a cigar.)
Still, these minor quibbles don’t overshadow a fascinating new world with new rules, powers and all the perils and pitfalls that come with it. I can’t wait to see Ms. Hamilton’s unflinching eye for drama, sex and violence turned on organized religion (brilliantly couched as the College of Angeles) and the realm of angels and demons. Should be quite a trip. I can’t wait!

Great book! After reading it the only question remains is since the title indicates a series and this would make an awesome series … are there any plans to make this another great LKH series? I hope the answer is yes bc this world deserves more than just one book & anyone who reads this will love it & agree that it deserves more books.

Will there be a 2 book?
