Relaxing

Apr 27, 2009

On Friday we were packing to visit Wendi and Daven. They’d mentioned taking us to a Goth club while we were there so we were packing club clothes. Jon wanted to wear the pants we’d bought in Toronto on Queen’s Street, but we could not find them. We searched everywhere, and had other people look so we’d have a fresh set of eyes, because sometimes that is all it takes, but no pants. I was debating on whether to take my portable computer with me. I went to Carri and I said, "Should I take it?"

She asked, "What do you want to do this weekend?"

"Enjoy myself."

"Then don’t take it."

The moment I decided not to work this weekend, at all, I found Jon’s club pants. It was like the house elves were hiding the fun stuff unless I was really going to have fun. We finished packing and off to the airport we went. I honestly didn’t work all weekend. As you’ve all noticed, I didn’t even blog. I took the computer with me on the family vacation to Florida. I didn’t use it much, but I did take it, and I did use it some. These three days were just about play, just hanging out, and being with friends. Funny thing is when Saturday night rolled around and it was time to get dressed for the Goth club, we were all relaxed, talking and having fun. I said, "Is it just me, or does the club not sound like fun." Jon seconded it. Wendi did a third vote, then Daven chimed in and we were all agreed. It was the first weekend for them in a long time that they didn’t have to be somewhere, doing something. Between their actual job-jobs and selling corsets on the weekends they’ve been incredibly busy. Jon and I always seem to be incredibly busy. The relaxation of the month off hadn’t lasted nearly as long as we’d hoped it would. So all four of us were ready to not have to be DOING something. We ordered Chinese food for delivery and we continued to visit. We’d gone out to a great restaurant on Friday night, and done some running around earlier in the day on Saturday to some of Wendi and Daven’s favorite this and that: bakery, Mexican restaurant, a trip to Trousseau’s where I was finally able to pick up the special order bra and such they’d been holding for me. Wendi and I vanished into fitting rooms while the men wandered around the store. So, we’d had our time out in the record breaking heat. We were all very happy to stay at the house that night, eat take-out, and just talk. We arrived home on Sunday relaxed and ready to face the work week. What more could you ask from a weekend?
