Swallowing Darkness is #3

Nov 18, 2008

SWALLOWING DARKNESS is number three on the New York Times list. I know, I know, three is good, but if I said I wasn’t disappointed I’d be less than honest. It used to be some comfort that it was big names that have been dukeing it out at the head of the list for years longer than I’ve been there. This was no exception. David Balducci at one, and Nora Roberts, as J. D. Robb at number two; big names. Nora Roberts is practically a force of nature. So, no shame in it, but . . . Yes, I am disappointed. The list depends, a lot, on who you are up against, and this time, I wasn’t the biggest dog.

Onto more cheerful news. I did fourteen pages on SKIN TRADE today. I was almost frantic to finish the chapter, in that not noticing the world, not caring if you eat, not wanting to answer the phone kind of way. It was great. I’m always pumped after a day when the writing goes like that. I also managed to do yoga, and pilates. Tomorrow, I’m either doing the treadmill, or weights. It depends on how my ankle feels. I’m really, really not wanting surgery, if I can avoid it.

Jon did more physical therapy, and he’s making progress daily. Really looking forward to him being at a hundred percent again. I know he’s looking forward to it even more. I’ve had my own share of crutch time, in the past, and I know the feeling. Seeing him go through the house on only one crutch was both exciting, and a little nerve racking. But, it worked. He’s to use just one crutch a little bit every day. He’s also doing all sorts of other stuff on the days when he’s not doing the actual PT.

I started a twitter recently. Today was the first time I voluntarily asked to make an entry. I’ve made two today. I can’t say I entirely understand the fascination of twitters, but, you know me, once I start something I like to do it right. So expect periodic twittering’s from me. Do you guys really want to know what I’m doing at any given time, even if it’s like something mundane? I mean do you enjoy knowing what I’m doing, even if it has nothing to do with the writing? I’m trying to get into the spirit of things, so we’ll see in the next few days.
