Well Hung

Dec 05, 2008

There are a lot of things in the house that are well hung, now.  Remember the movie "Lord of the Rings", the trilogy?  Bet you didn’t see that segue coming.  Jon and I got all the cutlery from the movies.  We hung a few pieces in our dining room, but had left the others, quite a stack, in boxes, waiting to be hung.  We had a friend, and sometimes employee who is very good with tools, come over this week and finally hang the rest.  I’d sort of forgotten how many pieces there were, waiting to be put on the walls.  Trinity said it best, "The dining room looks like an armory, Mom."  It does, it really does.  So, cool.

We have pretty much every sword, plus Gimili’s axes, in the Lord of the Rings collection from United Cutlery.  It’s a lot of metal work on the walls.  So, we have a this beautiful dining room with a cherry wood table and chairs, a matching sideboard, and China cabinet.  There’s a grandfather clock in the corner.  And now, on every wall is weaponary.  Plus Sauron’s helmet and gauntlet on the top of the sideboard.  What, you expected dried flowers and candlesticks in our house?  There are some dried flowers in the room, actually.  The candelabra from our wedding has a garland of the flowers from our wedding dried along it’s base.  It’s a standing candlearbara, so it sort of matches the medival-ish theme.  The dining room is now complete, unless I let everyone talk me into a bigger table, but other than that, the room is done.  Now, onto the family room.  I’m thinking leather.
